What is the difference between Investiture and Rededication?
Investiture Ceremony: Welcome your new members and for your new members to receive their Girl Scout pin.
Rededication Ceremony: Girls and adults renew their commitment to Girl Scouts.
When do you have this ceremony?
Troops typically do this ceremony after the girls have learned the promise and law. So it will likely be a few meetings in if the majority of your troop is new. If you are primarily a returning group, you may be able to hold this earlier in your year.
Who to invite to a your troop’s ceremony?
Family may wish to be present for their Girl Scout’s Investiture/Rededication ceremony. Having the ceremony at the beginning or end of your meeting can help with this. You could also plan a separate ceremony time and specifically invite family to attend. Make sure your families know what the ceremony is for and when you will be hosting it.
Pins! Depending on how your girls purchased their uniforms, they may have already bought their pins. That’s ok! Just make sure that before the ceremony, you collect them from the girls and families.

Friendship circle and a song
This is a perfect time to go girl-led and collect girl input. Many might be new so they may need some ideas on what kind of things will make the ceremony special to them. It’s even better when your girls can add something special to it themselves, so let their creativity spark some ideas for this one. Get their help in planning how the ceremony takes place and what they want to do to make the time special.
